První lidskou výpravu po měsíci jsem co nejpřesněji převedl na parkoviště před svým domem. Součástí instalace je objekt s kesbou zobrazující převod cesty z měsíce na Zem a fotografické zobrazení staroegyptské bohyně nebes Nút, jejíž tělo ohnuté nad nebeskou klenbou symbolizuje lidskou snahu uchopovat neuchopitelné skrze vlastní měřítko.

Historicky první procházku po Měsíci absolvovali američtí astronauti Neil Armstrong a Buzz Aldrin 21. května 1969. Zhruba dvě půl hodiny strávili vztyčováním vlajky, fotografováním, instalovaním vědeckých zařízení, zbíráním kamenů a dalších vzorků.

Centrální prvek instalace tvoří velký, černý monolit se schématem celé expedice okolo lunárního modulu Eagle přenesený na povrch Země. Fotografie naproti zachycuje autora, který celou cestu podrobně  změřil a absolvoval na parkovišti před svým bytem. Je fascinující, že tak přelomová událost pro lidstvo měla tak malý rozměr – plocha, na které se expedice odehrála, měla totiž rozlohu pouze 63 x 40 metrů.

Pozadí instalace tvoří fotografie ženy, která sa klene na dřevěné konstrukci. Vizuálně evokuje bohyňi Nut ze staroegyptské mytologie, která byla zobrazovaná jako žena napnutá na špičkách prstů nohou i rukou s tělem pokrytým hvězdami. Zosobňovala nebesa, ochraňovala mrtvé a byla považovaná za obranou bariéru mezi silami chaosu a pořádkem kosmu. Je zajímavé, že človek měl od nepaměti potřebu transponovat neuchopitelnou rozlehlost  vesmíru do lidské míry.

I have transferred the first human expedition on the Moon to the parking lot in from of my house. Another part of the installation is an object with a drawing symbolically depicting this transfer and a photograph depicting the Egyptian goddess Nút, who’s body bended over the vault of heaven suggests the human endeavor to grasp the ungraspable through their own measure.

On July 21, 1969, the U.S. astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first people in history to walk on the surface of the Moon. They spent about two and a half hours planting the flag, snapping photos, installing scientific equipment, collecting rocks and other samples.

The central element of the installation consists of a large, black monolith with a scheme of the expedition around the lunar module Eagle transferred to Earth’s surface. Facing the monolith is a photo showing the artist in a space suit reenacting exactly the path of the first Moon walk on a parking lot in front of his house. It is fascinating that such a groundbreaking event for humankind had such a small scale – the area of the whole expedition had the dimensions of only 63 x 40 meters.

The installation’s background consists of a studio photograph depicting a girl who arches on a wooden structure. She visually resembles the ancient Egyptian goddess Nut, who was portrayed as a woman stretched on the tips of her toes and fingers with a star-covered body. She embodied the heavens, protected the dead and was regarded as a barrier separating the forces of chaos from the ordered cosmos in the world. It is interesting that the man had always had the need to transpose the unfathomable vastness of the universe to the human scale.
